A land of history and culture
Numerous tours will have you reliving the Mauricie region's past, such as the historic city of Trois-Rivières, the remains of Canada's first ironworks at the Forges-du-Saint-Maurice. Visit the Village du Bûcheron (lumberjack's village), and experience life in a logging camp at the dawn of the XX century. An outdoor paradise
Hiking, cruising, canoe-camping, rabaskaw canoeing and cross-country skiing… These are just some of the activities you can engage in at the La Mauricie National Park, a vast territory of 536 km2 (207 sq. mi.) situated in the heart of the Laurentian mountains. At the Parc de la rivière Batiscan (Batiscan river park), waterfalls, rapids and pools abound in a spectacular setting. The Réserve faunique Mastigouche and the Réserve faunique du Saint-Maurice are of particular interest to those who are drawn to unspoiled nature. Every winter the village of Sainte-Anne-de-la-Pérade welcomes ice-fishing enthusiasts to its frozen river to fish for tommy cod. This is one activity you just have to try!
